North, South breaking apart –Agbakoba ‘Right now, the southern and northern parts of Nigeria are
almost separated. This is because few people in the south
would go to Kano State for instance. Not many people in their
right senses from the south would go to Maiduguri. Few people
from the south would go to the north.’
That former president of Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Mr
Olisa Agbakoba, is a household name in Nigeria is not
contestable. He has not only been around but always speaks out
on every national issue no matter how the odds are stacked. |

Nigerian prisons Filthy, overcrowded, dehumanising
Nigerian Prison Service headquarters, Abuja. Last week, the story broke

Fuel Subsidy: In the defense of the 'real
suffering masses'
We are premising this article on our believe that all parties to this
subsidy debate are patriotic, and all mean well for the country. The
president has never been known to fib to us before, and the people who
want subsidy to stay approximate the name of the suffering masses to
pursue
their claim to the impending post subsidy removal doom. Our
recommendations under this condition is, if the president is too timid
to take a bold step like Prime Minister David Cameron did in the UK when he took
over, he should work on how this subsidy works for all real suffering
masses. This should be the fair
solution after the NLC and the TUC have won their battle::

We Must Beg
the President by Atsar Terver
If you need anything from a President Jonathan there is something
you must know how to do very well. Begging! The man loves to be
begged. Begging moves the body, soul and spirit of the president
faster than strikes and street protests. This is one lesson ASUU
has not learnt and hence their prolonged strike to which the man
has not given them as much as a glance.NigerianNews

THE FALLACY OF OIL SUBSIDY AND ITS REMOVAL
by Madaki O Ameh
Once again, Nigerians are being put through the pain and trauma of the
debates, posturing and propaganda around removal or non removal of
‘subsidy’ on petroleum products. In the last decade, this debate has
had crippling effects on the economy, as speculations around it always
results in needless suffering for the citizenry, evidenced by panic
buying, hoarding of petroleum products, and the attendant long queues
at petrol stations, which we are already witnessing all over the
country. From all indications, this will be a bleak Christmas indeed,
judging from the kilometers long queues at petrol stations all over
the country, barely one week to the Christmas festivities.

Column PRESIDENT GOODLUCK JONATHAN: THE TWO SIDES TO THE STORY AND
THEN THE TRUTH
by
Theo
Ikes Ogune, Esquire
Before you read the two sides to the story, you should recall the
background. There was a time when former President Obasanjo was
hailed as the hero in Nigeria for showing the so-called “Maradona”
that he was “Pele” and “Dunga” combined -- that was when we hailed him
for taking the ball from Babangida and dribbling around him to score
Goodluck Jonathan for us. Even despite the mud on Jonathan from
wrestling with Atiku or being tossed around at a time when he was
trying to fill the shoes of a dead president whose shoes contained
plenty pebbles when he died, the hope in him led some of us to lay
down our arms against Jega’s pretense that the elections after Iwu
were free and fair.

Practice Forgiveness: A Powerful Tool to
Open the Door of God's Blessings
by
Minister Ayodele Mobolurin
The goal of forgiveness is restoration. Restoration of your peace
of mind and restoration of a broken relationship. The second goal may not be
possible, because the other party does not want to put away the contention.
However, the first is achievable, since it depends only on one party to the
contentious issue. Forgiveness is a powerful tool for restoring your peace
of mind. You are at peace even with those that consider you an enemy.
