Fuel Subsidy: In the defense of the 'real
suffering masses'
We are premising this article on our believe that all parties to this
subsidy debate are patriotic, and all mean well for the country. The
president has never been known to fib to us before, and the people who
want subsidy to stay approximate the name of the suffering masses to
pursue their claim to the impending post subsidy removal doom. Our
recommendations under this condition is, if the president is too timid
to take a bold step like Prime Minister David Cameron did in the UK when he took
over, he should work on how this subsidy works for all real suffering
masses. This should be the fair
solution after the NLC and the TUC have won their battle::

Frisky Larr's Current Column Can a Northerner ever be de-tribalized in
Nigeria? by Frisky Larr
Let’s face it. In the present dispensation, northern Nigeria has
produced three brilliant Nigerians of the younger generation, on which
Nigerians may build their hope for a better tomorrow. You may have
guessed right if your mindset works like mine. To be precise though,
my mind is set on Nuhu Ribadu, Nasir El-Rufai and Sanusi Lamido
Sanusi. Many may disagree instinctively, but my point will be better
understood when this submission is read to the end. As opposed to
these three individuals, southern Nigeria currently has just Ngozi
Okonjo-Iweala to boast of. In terms of focus and outstanding
performance however, we will mention Babatunde Fashola. Unfortunately
though, Fashola is not the radical crusader that is created to fight
evil. On the contrary, he is more the invisible crusader serving his
people quietly and working for the good of his constituency.

Mrs. Johnson’s Gaffe on President Jonathan by Atsar Terver
One of the biggest jokes of the year is the recent publication by
Times Magazine in which Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan was named
among the 100 most influential persons in the world. One thing I must
admit upfront is that being, the President over a country of over
160million people, who are directly affected by decisions taken by him
and Nigeria being an oil producing country whose policies affect the
global energy market, every Nigerian President automatically qualifies
to be named an influential person. But that is just where Jonathan’s
qualification ends. Any further criteria that relates to leadership
performance, Integrity, anti-corruption, good governance,
transparency, promotion of social welfare and respect for human rights
and the rule of law must be watered down below the barest minimum
standards for him to qualifyNigerianNews

THE FALLACY OF OIL SUBSIDY AND ITS REMOVAL
by Madaki O Ameh
Once again, Nigerians are being put through the pain and trauma of the
debates, posturing and propaganda around removal or non removal of
‘subsidy’ on petroleum products. In the last decade, this debate has
had crippling effects on the economy, as speculations around it always
results in needless suffering for the citizenry, evidenced by panic
buying, hoarding of petroleum products, and the attendant long queues
at petrol stations, which we are already witnessing all over the
country. From all indications, this will be a bleak Christmas indeed,
judging from the kilometers long queues at petrol stations all over
the country, barely one week to the Christmas festivities.

The weakness and corruption in local intelligence gathering have been

points to consider.

By now, everyone knows, or should know, the legacy of slavery.
Obviously, the thing that made slavery slavery was the
system-wide technique used to control the slaves. Without it,
slaves would not have been submissive to their so-called masters.
Slaves did not just stand there and take it. Apart from the very
successful Haitian revolt and the revolt on the Spanish Amistad,
there were sporadic slave revolts particularly in the Americas. Of
course, slaves did not want to be slaves and individually could have
easily killed their masters. They were not spineless. They were
pragmatic. So some ran away, and others did other things. NigerianNews Special

Practice Forgiveness: A Powerful Tool to
Open the Door of God's Blessings
by
Minister Ayodele Mobolurin
The goal of forgiveness is restoration. Restoration of your peace
of mind and restoration of a broken relationship. The second goal may not be
possible, because the other party does not want to put away the contention.
However, the first is achievable, since it depends only on one party to the
contentious issue. Forgiveness is a powerful tool for restoring your peace
of mind. You are at peace even with those that consider you an enemy.
