NigerianNews Letter to the Editor
March 29, 2007

I must thank you and your team for a job well done by keeping us inform about the current news.

However, I must confess that your column on sports news has not done well. I advise that you always update globacom premier league table to reflect the current standing.

Once again I appreciate you and your team.

Yours sincerely,

Joseph Agbor

Editor's reply

Hello Joseph,

We are very encouraged that your letter is coming from the Chamber of Chief Gani Fawehinmi who we highly admire here.

You may disagree with him, you will always know that he is a honest man and does not unleash "agbako" in convivial solidarity with the likes of the Bamisiles and Dariyes. We have started thinking here that we can start asking in combination of Hausa and Yoruba whether in Nigeria, the unfolding event is real agbako
(waiting to happen) ba? Tell the Chief to keep the flag flying, he has nothing to apologize to in a NBA that has sold itself to Atiku and his shameless and immoral ambition!!

To this end, we have decided to include globacom premier league at the Sport page of
NigerianNews, just because of a man we really admire - Chief Gani Fawehinmi. As you can see below, we are unbridled and unafraid, and we will remain so even if we are the only organization left standing.

Dear editor,

I like to thank you and salute your courage for the good job you are doing in featuring Frisky Larr's writings. He is one of the reasons while many of us visit the site

He is one of the most well-read, articulate and unbiased writers we have presently. He is totally different from most other Nigerian journalists that have resulted to paid-journalism. He analyzes situation articulately in the spirit of a patriotic Nigerian. Please, I crave your indulgence to let him get this feed back as an encouragement for what he is doing, so he can continue to write because many of us are thrilled, impressed and totally support his views and writings.

God bless!

Dear Editor

if anyone from the delta area in Nigeria can read this. I think it will be wise if you guys form a party and join the political game in the country to fight these money grabbing leaders. Your actions are making you to look bad to the world. You have a legitimate case but you are fighting your battle in the wrong arena. I am sure that if you guys put heads together you will get a better result for your area. At the moment what you are doing is not serving the purpose of the area, just a few of you who believed in gun totting. Make a legitimate case by joining the government . You can save your people by handling the political seats. The few money the kidnapped people give you make you guys look bad . Find a better channel to fight your war. Stay away from being labeled as rebels or insurgents or kidnappers. This is not who you are. Make ken saro wiwa proud by fighting a legitimate war through politics. The only way for a positive result is to be at the government seat. Don't make yourselves an enemy of the states. You have a legitimate case, but you are going about it the wrong way. Please think about it. Elizabeth Martin

Dear Sir,

Is this a shame on Nigerian medical care?

Isn't it shameful that for every non-emergent medical condition, even a prospective Nigerian Presidential Candidate with a cold has to be flown abroad to seek medical treatment?

This says a lot about the medical care ordinary Nigerians receive in Nigeria. It says loudly that medical care in Nigeria is inferior or at the least nonexistent! This is not a joking matter, and it is high time all aspirants to the highest offices in the land dedicate themselves and re-orient their priorities to the most urgent needs of our people, such as security of life, adequate food supply/ good drinking water, modern healthcare delivery systems, housing, electricity, safe roads and transportation systems, Education and communication systems are the sine qua non of emerging democracies which is the path that Nigeria seems to following. It is not the act of "disappointing those who wish us dead" but rather getting ourselves ready for the serious responsibilities of leadership that the Nigerian Nation needs at this time.

In 1972 a US Senator, Thomas Eagleton who was a Vice-Presidential candidate and running mate to Sen George McGovern stepped down when his background checks revealed he had been treated for depression in the past. That was a very unselfish decision and the right decision because he put his Nation's needs ahead of his personal ambitions. It seems this is a rare commodity of our time. When a healthy Yar' Adua returns to Nigeria he should willingly present a certified letter from his German Physicians confirming his health status as physically and mentally able to discharge fully the duties of the Chief Executive, rather than another casual challenge to a game of Tennis or Squash as proof of his physical fitness.

Incidentally World Class Athletes have collapsed and died in their prime even when they were considered at the very top of their game. Nigeria is fortunately blessed with possessing great intellectual minds, great resources both mineral and human and all we need is harness all these to develop our own unique facilities of excellence within our own boarders to the benefit of every citizen, rather than jetting overseas for every unpredictable cough, chest cold or acute asthmatic attack that may come with fatal consequences. Let us remember that charity begins at home.

Dear Editor,

If Yar adua is sick are there no one else to step in instead of the gangs of Buhari and Babaginda. Have we learnt any lesson at all. why are we placating incompetence. the days of reputable dedicated military men died with the first coup in Nigeria. Forget the military men, we need young and fresh minds in our govt. let this country grow PLEASE. All those who have money in foreign land should learn to use the money at home.

WHY TAKE MONEY YOU CANNOT SPEND.

It hurts so much to see that we are still parading the same group of people. WHY? Take a clue from America there is nothing called super presidents after eight years you are done. President Clinton is still loved today but the constitution would not allow him back in Washington. let us try that. there is no permanent seat in good govt. Staying too long brings in greed and exploitation. Leave those old politicians out of the system. They have served there term. Enough is enough. This is sickening to see the parade of names again. What else do they want? Are they broke from all the money they had before? People are fed up. Nigerians are not stupid, we are just tired of fighting one another.

NIGERIANS STOP VOTING FOR THESE GROUP OF PEOPLE. STOP TAKING THERE BRIBES.WE ARE DISAPPOINTING THOSE WHO BELIEVE IN NIGERIA

Dear Editor,

EFCC SHOULD ARREST AND PROSECUTE GOV ABDULLAHI ADAMU IF THEY ARE SINCERE

The evidence are there for everyone to see that Governor Abdullahi Adamu has been stealing money that belong to Nasarawa state. Nasarawa state is the least developed state in the whole of Nigeria.

Why has EFCC not acted on several petitions written to it? Is it true that Adamu is Obasanjo's boy and as such is a sacred cow?

Adamu has under-developed Nasarawa state. It is a pity we share the same name.

Dear Editor,

LETTER TO DISTINGUISHED SENATORS AND
HONOURABLE MEMBERS OF HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVE!

TIME TO ACT NOW – IMPEACH OBASANJO AND ATIKU

There could never be a better time and better chance to act than now by IMPEACHING President Obasanjo and Vice President Atiku in order to save Nigeria and Nigerians from anarchy in our political psyche.

Their actions and utterances of late is sowing the seed of discord, anarchy, lawlessness and infact capable of truncating our hard earned democracy. Gradually we are drifting to state of political anarchy and uncertainty by their daily utterances.

NIGERIA is not only for Obasanjo and Atiku and you should not fold your arms akimbo to watch them plunge this great country of ours into more hardships because of the inordinate ambition of Obasanjo to rule through the back door as his desire to rule forever was truncated by your goodselves and Atiku’s desperation to rule Nigeria by all means. Don’t forget please that “DESPARATE PEOPLE ARE ALWAYS DIABOLICAL”.

For eight (8) years Obasanjo has succeeded in subjecting Nigerians to hardships and why must he continue by Proxy (Umaru Yar’adua), after the timely demise of his pet project (SATANIC 3rd Term). Nigerians whom you represent were better off eight years ago than their condition now. What has ordinary Nigerians that voted you into office got to do with the so called high foreign reserve, payments of foreign debts or any privatization, or any so called reforms when his basic needs were contemptuously neglected. How much was a bag of rice, fertilizer, litre of petrol and other petroleum products, what was the condition of our roads, hospitals and medicaments, water in both urban and rural areas? Electricity supply in cities not to talk of rural areas eight years ago. WHAT REFORM IS Obasanjo talking about? His so called ‘economic team’ are nothing but agents of foreign consultants which at the end of the day, the so called team end up collecting their commission from the
consultants.

You will very much agree with me that the common man you represent is worst off now than he was eight years ago under Obasanjo and Atiku. They are all culpable.

Why should Atiku be so desperate to rule Nigeria? What can he offer Nigerians? Infact, he is likely to be even worst than Obasanjo. This is a Vice President for eight (8) years who cannot even show any tangible project in his home State that will be seen to impact positively/directly to the generality of his people talk less of Nigerians. When asked about this he said “... Ask the Governor of Adamawa”... I am only a Vice President that advice the Presiden...t” I initially thought he is being persecuted by the President but the little facts that emerge (PTDF) he has no business to continue in office talk less of vying for the exalted office in the land and you are watching. This is a person who busied himself for eight years acquiring wealth for himself, family and cronies. The interest of Nigeria and Nigerians is never his concern. He is empty, he has nothing to offer Nigerians but inflammatory remarks on his desperation to rule.

Both the President and his Vice SHALL be impeached NOW. Their ‘high crime and misdemeanor’ over the years are more than impeachable offences but you seems to play down on them, may be forgotten that you swore to uphold the sanctity of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Atiku’s corrupt practices while in office should not be over looked, because of being accused of acting the script of the Presidency or Obasanjo. Act now it is not too late to impeach them. This is a man who had confessed to been the master mind of rigging the 2003 elections and yet he is to be allowed to contest the 2007 election. Haba are we that bad and hopeless to allow that. Anyway, since he said “NO ONE CAN STOP ME FROM 2007 ELECTION” he can as well declare himself President of Nigeria by himself.

Obasanjo’s high crime and misdemeanors i.e. impeachable offences are enough to boot him out of office disgracefully. He desecrated the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria with reckless abandon and have been subverting the rule of law in this our country and you are still watching.

The President was reported to have said that “it will be total calamity and disaster in Nigeria if P.D.P does not win 2007 elections”, and also “it is a matter of do or die affair for his party P.D.P to win the 2007 elections”. With these statements credited to him Obasanjo then Mohammadu Buhari is very right to say that Obasanjo and P.D.P have already rigged the election even before it is held. Obasanjo will only announce the result of the April 2007 election when he wakes up from his sleep on the day of election.

Obasanjo’s Gestapo (EFCC) has no regard for the rule of law or due process of the law. They go about arresting, torturing, intimidating members of opposition parties and individuals perceived to have different views with the government. The Chairman of EFCC came your hallow chamber and reported to you that 31 out of the 36 Governors of Nigeria and were having various cases of corrupt practices against them. But because the Presidency had doctored the list only few were mentioned. What happened to the rest in the original list and you failed neglected and refused to ask the Chairman of EFCC about the remaining governors or is it you that cleared them. We are tired of double standards.

One of yours Ibrahim Nasiru Mantu who tormented the political Psyche of Nigeria and Nigerians with his satanic 3rd term was properly indicted for various corrupt practices by both the senate (over his house and furnishings) and the House of Representatives (over the Hajj riff off) but he is allowed to again stand election in 2007as a Senator. I and Nigerians don’t want to believe that he shared with you the largesse of the 3rd term windfall hence your silence.

It is high time you revisit that act that established the EFCC. You have created a monster but you should be able to tame it. In as much as we Nigerians are supporting and will continue to support the fight against corruption in whatever form but NOT selective prosecution and persecution of perceived opponents. Please do something.

The PTDF, Plateau State Ecological Funds revelations only are more than enough to impeach the President and his Vice.

Look at another scenario where Atiku goes to court to challenge the White Paper that gazetted his indictment, which I think he did not to up till now, and ask the court to stop the election as scheduled, until the case is determined. And for whatever reason the court granted that relief. Obasanjo will be the winner because he will tell Nigerians that he has declared a state of emergency as usual but now in the whole of Nigeria and also dissolve the National Assembly. By then it will be too late for you to do anything and if you attempt he will arrest all of you and you know Nigerians will siddon look. His ultimate desire of ruling till eternity will come to fruition.

The common man that voted you as his/her representative have found “Olusegun Aremu Obasanjo and Atiku Abubakar guilty of undermining the integrity of the Presidency, has brought disrepute on the Presidency, has betrayed the trust as President and Vice, and has acted in a manner subversive of the rule of law and justice, to the manifest injury of the people of Nigeria”.

The Distinguished and Honourable gladiators that fought and kill the satanic 3rd term by sacrificing everything at your disposal were rubbished by Atiku’s claim now that he alone fought and dislodge the 3rd term. Where was he when men and women of honour especially the 2007 movement. The Senate President’s speech before the commencement of proceedings on that fateful day that saw the “timely death” of 3rd term surely cannot be Atiku’s handiwork. We can discern the words, utterances and speeches of men of honour and candour. If Obasanjo has promise to elongate his tenure together with Atiku he would have supported the 3rd term project.

Please DISTINGUISHED SENATORS and HANOURABLE MEMBERS OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVE wake up to your sacred duty and give Obasanjo and Atiku the dose they NEED and salvage Nigeria and Nigerians by impeaching them now before we all regret your inaction.

History and posterity will never be kind to you (individually and collectively) if you fail to do something now. You’ve done it before by killing the SATANIC 3RD (SAD) TERM and you can do it again NOW.

MAY THE ALMIGHTY GIVE YOU THE COURAGE TO ENGRAVE YOUR NAMES IN GOLD.
