Press Release on BOKO HARAM SUSPECT ESCAPE IS A FARCE

BOKO HARAM SUSPECT ESCAPE IS A FARCE

The Nigerian Police astonished Nigerians with the news of the escape of the suspected Boko Haram leader, Kabiru Umar alias Sokoto on Sunday, January 15th. It was a piece of news which many Nigerians find very hard to believe. A seemingly Hollywood-like story of how one unarmed man disarmed four armed policemen detailed to accompany him to his house in Abaji for a search.

If the Inspector General of Police has regards for moral values he should have resigned his post by now for failing Nigerians without waiting for Mr. President’s  ‘produced the accused or be sacked’ threat. In the same vein, the commissioner of Police in charge of zone 7 criminal investigation department should have be charged to court as a suspect and accomplice in the ‘escapegate’.

The truth is that our Police force as usual has let us down when it matters most. It seems we don’t even have any intelligence unit who could foil any criminal intent before actualization. What happened again in Kano yesterday 20th January could have been nipped if the threat of the so called Boko Haram leader to bomb Kano metropolis was taken serious.

The immediate step taken by Mr. President is commendable but we want a more decisive response to what is becoming a trend in Nigeria whenever a high-powered suspect is captured. The Clifford Orji saga and the disappearance of the Okija shrine register were some examples Nigerians still need answers to. This and some other issues are why Nigerians have lost trust in government and the security apparatus.

We are tired of investigation/probe panels and committees whose findings will not see the light of the day. The suspect must be produced by those who have engineered his escape as a matter of urgency because Umar Kabiru could be the link to nipping the bud of the scourge of Boko Haram.

Nigerians are tired of innocent lives and properties that are been lost through the hand of these unscrupulous elements among us. Live is sacrosanct and must be treated as such. Any society where blood is shed unjustly denies itself from the blessings and mercies of God. Allah says whoever kills a soul is as if he has killed the whole mankind and whoever saves a life is as if he has saved mankind {Q5:32}.

We call on Mr. President to fish out these evil perpetrators and their cohorts however high-placed they may be. The Nigerian masses are watching as we shall continue to unite in one voice against evil and evil doers both nationally and internationally. We shall continue to pray to Allah to destroy the evil doers as they plan to destroy our continued existence as one great nation.

Long Live Nigeria.
