Press Release on Christmas Day Bombing at Madala
AL-USRAH CONDEMNS CHRISTMAS DAY BOMBING
Al Usrah Incorporated Port Harcourt condemned in strongest term the bombing of a church at Madala on Christmas day. This is a cowardly act to further heat up the already inundated polity especially at this delicate period of fuel deregulation debate.
This new wave of bombing which indiscriminately target both Christians and Muslims and their worship places must be nipped in the bud as a matter of urgency before it degenerates into religious crisis. This is one crisis the Jonathan administration would not want to add to the present economic challenges facing our collective and continued existence as a nation.
The so-called Boko Haram and their financiers are not faceless individuals. They neither represent the interest of Nigerian Muslims nor any religion organization. They are known and must be brought to face the wrath of the law for the wanton destruction of lives and properties. Enough is enough.
We sincerely empathized with the Nigeria Christian community especially those that had lost loved ones and several other victims of these attacks and pray that God give them the fortitude to bear the loss. It is a national disaster and we must remain united to face the perpetrators of such evil attacks.
We call on our national security agencies to be more vigilant and intensify efforts at arresting the perpetrators and ensure that justice is done. It must be noted however, that this should be carried out diligently to protect the innocents from unwarranted harassment and molestation.
Our peaceful co-existence lies in our ability to tolerate our differences and resolve same with understanding, tolerance, and wisdom and uphold justice at all times.
