This is a fight to finish that must be embraced with all
dedication. It is either we get this fight over with, this once and for all,
or we will ever be enslaved in it’s entrapment. “No one man, can rise above
the condition of his people“ according to the Honourable Louis Farrakhan.
This dictate regretfully, it is clear. is alien to the mentality of a self
absorbed, self serving power hungry “North”.
A FIGHT TO FINISH by Uyi Edogamhe
These are turbulent,
trying times no doubt in Nigeria’s political sphere. The attack
dogs are on the prowl and the political environment is unduly
being heated. The powers that be are in a self preserving fight to
reassert their relevance again. Fear, which is a potent weapon of
oppression, is the singular most deployed armoury in this fight to
finish.
There is a generational, class, and a cultural
struggle with a hegemonic opportunist very powerful few elites,
that have savagely held the collective destiny of the Nigerian
nation, in a misanthropic check. The political act of trickery
has been a constant, in this near incontestable and irrefutable
act of total mental and psychological subjugation of the hearts
and minds of a vast number of the Nigerian people. Moreover, there
is this dangerous pretext that is ludicrously dominating logic and
common sense, with the ethno religious colouration the attempt at
breaking loose from this suffocating grip has assumed.
We have been too cowardly accommodating for so
long and too long. The masterminds and lie spewing, feudal,
aristocratic self ordained leaders, are fiercely at it again with
their political manipulative theatrics. There is no mincing of
words as to what their intentions are: the continuous subjugation
of the hearts and minds of Nigerians, especially the “talakawas”
of Northern Nigeria.
The ever dicey North South political
configuration is being exploited once again, in the vexing issue
of PDP zoning arrangement which willy-nilly, have been thrown into
the centre stage of our national discuss, right now. The Old North
versus South polemics is revived with a frivolous deceptive
objective.
This is not a struggle between the North and
the South in the real cognitive sense, as is being falsely
propagated, or the Hausa-Fulani against their other brethrens in
the Nigerian geographic constriction. It is a fight between forces
of change and a few very entrenched bigots, who are mostly of
Hausa- Fulani extraction, that have gotten egocentric with the
media hype, and have lived under the delusional self assured
certainty of political domination in Nigeria. These guys have
exulted in the long held believe that national political
calculation and expression revolves round them.
Tanko Yakassai and Yahaya Kwande have become
two of the most vociferous agitators for the sustenance of a
system of deceit, lies, manipulation and unbridle exploitation.
This duo are spearheading a callous campaign of misinformation,
fear mongering and outright duplicity in a desperate attempt to
sustain, the subjugating domination of the mostly misinformed, ill
educated and the usual majority of the outright illiterate
population. Their animating contention, is not based on any
pragmatic rewarding practical principles, but purely on tribal,
religious and ethno geographic patronage.
It is important that these people with their
displayed, loathing vicious intentions, should be marginalised and
put in check. Let’s bring to the fore, their deceit and their
fraud for what it is . It is time to unmask these bigots and their
deceptive rabble rousing antics. Let us expose the fallacy and
skulduggery, on which their unmerited statesmanship is built.
This should be a patriotic duty, of every enlighten discerning
Nigerian, irrespective of tribe, region , religion or state of
origin.
This fight to finish should be made oblivious
in our quest to wrestle the destiny of Nigeria from the hands of
a dysfunctional generation that had thrived on pitching the people
against one another. Their principals are at variance and inimical
to building a thriving responsive egalitarian society. This is
the proverbial fight of good over evil as contained in the holy
books; and good has always triumph over evil.
Most of the dramatis personae in this sad saga
of concocted indignation, are people of established dubious
characters, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida and Atiku Abubakar, are two
of some of the spooky personalities who are eminently fanning,
this amber of discord, in the hope of some kind of political
dividend. They are throwing their financial weight behind
hijacking public opinions in the North by appealing to mostly
religious and tribal sentiments.
The North as propagated by these internal
colonisers, is not consistent, with the hard working, opportunity
lacking, materially deprived, oppressed and marginalised
“talakawas” of northern Nigeria. The subsisting present political
class in the North, who are products of this old order, have
cowardly acquiesced to their manipulative benefactors and are a
willing participants in this grand deceit.
Governor Mauzu Babangida Aliyu of
Niger State, who happens to be the chairman of the Northern
Governors Forum; sudden three hundred a sixty degrees turn in the
question of PDP zoning, is a sad testament to the powerful
enslaving hold and grip, this politically self centred contrived
North, have, on most of the political office holders from Northern
Nigeria.
Governor Aliyu who had on
the onset spoken very energetically against zoning of the PDP
presidency, have suddenly become an astute non compromising
agitator of zoning the PDP presidency to the North.
Is Governor Aliyu’s sudden
turn, like some of the Northern governors who had initially voiced
support or sympathise with jettisoning the zoning principle, out
of real progressive political expediency, or a cowardly surrender
and submission to fear? Some supposed political gladiators have
become hapless nonentities in this self serving political chess
game.
These spoilers are getting
all the political news space, spewing their contortions and lies
and they revile and distort at every opportunity and appear to be
having an upper hand in this information war.
However, there are
countless number of honourable Nigerians from the North who have
been striving to build a progressive society for the emancipation
of the poor, the deprived and down trodden, but they are a
drowning voice that needs to be empowered and given a resounding
voice in this fight to finish. These rogue elites will have to be
soundly marginalised and vanquished by all means necessary. They
are the singular most abiding threat to the peaceful coexistence
of the Nigerian people.
This con “North” have not
shown any indignation at the recent lead poisoning in Zamfara
State that killed hundreds of children, they have not gotten
together to show any indignation at the numerous moribund
industries in the North that have been forced to close shops all
these years with the attendant unemployment, they have not shown
any indignation at the continuous high mortality rate in the
North, no indignation at the ravaging scourge of guinea worm and
river blindness, no indignation at the low school enrolment for
children, mostly female children in the North. It is very apparent
that, these efforts do not carry with them, immediate rewarding
pecuniary incentives, as much as political horse trading and power
joggling.
This is a fight to finish
that must be embraced with all dedication. It is either we get
this fight over with, this once and for all, or we will ever be
enslaved in it’s entrapment. “No one man, can rise above the
condition of his people“ according to the Honourable Louis
Farrakhan. This dictate regretfully, it is clear. is alien to the
mentality of a self absorbed, self serving power hungry “North”.
